Michoacan is ready to show their craft, culture and traditions in this «Palm Sunday»

Craft LV State Competition of «Palm Sunday» to be held in Uruapan, Michoacan. Over 300 thousand craftsmen of the four ethnic groups in the state will participate in the Artisan Tianguis, from March 28 to April 12.

On March 29 Contest of traditional clothing of Michoacan ceremonies and dances will be performed.

The Government of the State of Michoacan, through the House of Crafts (Casart), in coordination with the Municipal Government of Uruapan, take place on 29th March, the State Competition Crafts, of «Palm Sunday «to be held at the House of Culture in this city.

The purpose of this competition is to foster healthy competition among the artisans of the state, encouraging them to raise the quality of their parts, which are recognized by buyers of this expression of popular art, which has made Uruapan in point sale confluence domestic and foreign buyers.

Rafael Paz Vega, director of the Casart said that in coordination with the National Fund for the Development of Arts and Crafts (Fonart), awarded a total of 865 thousand pesos, distributed over 259 prizes for the contest, and provide support and supply the place for artisans to rest and do their grooming and conditioning for the flea market, with awnings, lighting, etc.

He also noted that the Artisan Tianguis, which is certainly the largest in Latin America, involving 300 thousand architects from all over the state, the Mazahua ethnic groups, Otomi, Nahua and Purépecha, who will be with exhibition and sale of their Products from March 28 to April 12 this year, in the Squares «Martyrs of Uruapan» and «Morelos» the Huatápera and now with an extension Ocampo Street, next to the Casa de la Cultura.

The state official said three more craft flea market in Patzcuaro, Zitacuaro and Tacámbaro, which will involve more than 400 artisans of different craft branches will also be developed.
