Artisan Day Celebration 2015 Michoacano

Over 3 000 500 artisans and craftsmen from all regions of the state together in this community of Glen Peoples Eleven were given to celebrate the Day of the Craftsman Michoacan, ceremony led by Governor Salvador Jara Guerrero and his wife Catherine Ettinger, where who he works with creativity, passion and dedication to Michoacan pride and place as one of the states with the greatest wealth of the country craft exalted.

In that vein, he called the Michoacan and to change our culture to use crafts, proudly wear traditional clothing and enjoy even more of the dishes are cooked in different regions of the state.

For its part, the director of the Institute of Artisan Michoacano (IAM), Rafael Paz Vega, said that pursuant to the Law on Promotion and Development of Handicraft this celebration honoring each of the artisans and express their creativity through is done their hands and each piece reflecting the face and the heart of their communities; «It is a treasure that we must recognize, preserve and disseminate» he exclaimed. He said that on 15 August, the IAM issued a call for the various communities to elect those wishing to recognize for their accomplishments, talents, contributions and experience in the craft work, hence were selected 52 men and women, including significantly, the governor Jara Guerrero presented the award to Artisan Merit to 18 creators of different branches. Paz Vega said this year, with support from the federal government through the National Fund for the Promotion of Crafts (Fonart), the Ministry of Tourism and the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples (CDI), the IAM managed to make over 200 contests and benefit nearly 13,000 artisans with various supports. He insisted that the sector needs and need a united and willing to share tastes, interests and achievements, putting the collective interest over individual interest artisan community.

In his speech, the president of the State Union of Craftsmen of Michoacan, Emilia Reyes Oseguera, Salvador Jara thanked the governor for the attention paid to the architects and, by listening to them and also to appreciate the handcrafted products produced in the entity, while asked the deputies present and that their views regarding the revised Law on the Promotion and Development of Handicraft.
